budding pears and peaches at job #1
This past monday it was my turn to host dinner.
With the awesome park weather we have been having here I felt inspired to make a picnic themed dinner.
I set my living room up with a picnic blanket , candles in canning jars and a ton of pillows.
on the menu for the night was
B.L.Ts on texas toast with spicy mayo and honey glazed turkey, accompanied by an asparagus, brussels sprout , apple salad.
and we cant forget the texas sweet tea (there was also lemonade , and yes arnold palmers were had)

in between dinner and the apparently much anticipated dessert, we had watermelon and a few shots of orangel.
and then?
Peach rhubarb crumble. I also added vanilla bean ice cream , and a spicy orange tequila marmalade. Needless to say it was yum town.

after desert a friend of sam’s popped in , and brought us a bottle of scotch.
I made pseudo smashes.

needless to say , at the end of it we were all ready for a nap.
last week, independent of m.n.d. I decided I would make chicken and biscuits for the boy since he was going to be working late.
He ended up getting off early and became a useful hand in the execution of the dish.

Because I apparently feel the need to booze up most things I bake , the biscuits were lonestar biscuits.
And by us , I mean me.
Two weeks ago Lee Loucas and I were Invited over to our friend Sam’s house for dinner. She told us she had trouble cooking for just herself and ended up making around 6-8 osso buco empanadas , as well as a healthy sized pot of wild rice with cherries and cashews, and not to forget steamed greens.

After dinner was finished and I poured the dregs into the lovely hostess’ glass , it was decided that another bottle (2) was (were) needed.
The three of us:
Sam (a chef at T’afia)
Lee (a HRM student , and future bar/ cafe/ restaurant owner)
and
Myself (a woman who is quite decent at putting things together with sugar , and one who doesn’t like measuring cups much).
Stumbled into the liking of an idea for a weekly (if we were all available ) monday night dinner. Seeing as how the three of us are all in the restaurant industry , and monday is usually our promised day off.
the next week (last week) we were hosted again by Sam. We were accompanied by two other guests, a friend of Sam’s and my boyfriend. The menu included:
Paprika shrimp , fried hearts of palm accompanied by an asian style slaw and papaya aioli.

I decided this time to bring us a treat as well. I made a Drunken Blueberry Apple crisp with a rum brandy sauce and we (of course) threw in some BlueBell vanilla bean icecream.
TonightIt is my turn to host/ cook. I already have some ideas in the works.
I may post in the interim about the chicken and biscuits that the boy and I made.
